Prof. Dr. Markus A. Launer is a full professor for business administration and service management at the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences at the Campus Suderburg. He also teaches master students in the ZWIRN Center in Sustainability and Risk Management. His areas of expertise are International Management, eBusiness, Controlling, Finance, Corporate Communication and Investor Relations as well as Scientific Methods. Before, he was visiting lecturer at the Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences, Fresenius University, Hamburg School of Management (HSBA), and International School of Management (ISM).
He researches in the area of digitalization, e-learning, compliance
management, and intuition. His EU-funded EFRE research projects were “Digital Trust and Teamwork (DigVert)”
and Intuition (RHIA)”. He also managed the global follow-up project “Digital Trust @ the Workplace”
with 30 co-researchers in 13 languages in 30 countries (n=5570). In cooperation with 14
ministries of education in Germany, he researched e-learning at vocational schools. Together with
Intersoft Consulting Services AG, he researched "Compliance Management". He publishes academic
articles in journals and runs a lab for IT- and Media Technology. Markus organizes a yearly,
academic International Service Management Congress with over 50 speakers bringing global experts in
digitalization together. The results are published as conference proceedings and in journal
articles.
He has over 20 years of experience in financial and corporate communications
in various capital market measures as well as marketing and corporate controlling, nine of which
are in the USA. He worked for Hoechst AG and SGL Carbon AG as well as SGL Carbon Inc. in
Charlotte, N.C., Philipp Holzmann AG, Media! AG, Altana Inc. in New York, Merck KGaA, and as and
managing partner of Transatlantic Investor Relations LLC (New York and Frankfurt) for numerous
other companies from DAX30 to SDAX. In New York, was on the board of the German American Chamber of
Commerce New York Inc.
Launer completed his business studies at the Universities of Mannheim and
obtained the European Ph.D. at Tallinn University of Technology. He is the editor of numerous books
on investor relations, corporate governance, and the coordination of foreign subsidiaries of
multinational companies. In 1993 he was awarded the Dr. Carl Clemm and Dr. Carl Haas Prize from PWA
Waldhof GmbH.
