Als Rahmenprogramm zur EU-CARICOM Law Conference in Port of Spain (Trinidad) besuchte die BELS-Delegation den Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) und diskutierte mit dem Richter The Hon Mr. Justice Jacob Wit und weiteren Konferenzteilnehmern von der Coventry Law School unter anderem den Einfluss des Europarechts, die Rolle des CCJ in der Karibik und die Durchsetzbarkeit seiner Entscheidungen. Prof. Dres. Huck und Rogmann sowie die wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter Ass. iur. Claudia Kurkin und Hannes Prochno LL.M. besichtigten auch die Gerichtsbibliothek und einen Gerichtssaal. Im Rahmen der Besichtigung wurde unter anderem erläutert, dass die materielle Ausstattung des CCJ von der EU finanziell unterstützt wird.

Anlässlich des CCJ-Besuches überreichte der Dekan der Brunswick European Law School, Prof. Dr. Winfried Huck, dem Richter am Caribbean Court of Justice, The Hon Mr Justice Jacob Wit, die Beziehungsmedaille der Fakultät. Im Anschluss an den Besuch diente ein kleiner Empfang mit den Mitarbeitern des CCJ sowie den Konferenzteilnehmern dem weiteren Austausch.

BELS delegation visits the Caribbean Court of Justice during the EU-CARICOM Law Conference 2018

As a supporting program to the EU-CARICOM Law Conference at Port of Spain, Trinidad, the BELS-Delegation participated in a tour of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and discussed, among other topics, the influence of European law, the role of the CCJ in the Caribbean and the enforceability of its decisions with The Hon Mr. Justice Jacob Wit and other conference participants from Coventry Law School.   

From the BELS-Delegation participated in the program Prof. Dres. Winfried Huck and Achim Rogmann as well as Research Associates Ass. iur. Claudia Kurkin and Hannes Prochno LL.M. The program also included a visit to the court library and a courtroom. During the visit, it was explained, among other things, that the physical equipment of the CCJ is financially supported by the EU. Prof. Dres. On the occasion of the CCJ visit, the dean of Brunswick European Law School Prof. Dr. Winfried Huck handed over the Faculty Relationship Medal to the judge at the Caribbean Court of Justice The Hon Mr. Justice Jacob Wit. Following the visit, a small reception with the staff of the CCJ as well as the conference participants served for further exchange.
