The question is whether (and with what intensity) and in which legal fields the United Nations SDGs are permeating European law with regard to raw materials projects which sometimes violate environmental and human rights law. Taking into account historical aspects, issues related to the extraction of raw materials and SDGs will be discussed, and the effects of the SDGs in European law demonstrated. Numerous existing sustainability standards and the shortage of raw materials for future technologies are also highlighted, as is the rapidly growing demand, relations between China and the EU and the extraction of natural resources in space and in the deep sea. Overall, the SDGs provide a basis for the unification of many standards that are increasingly being incorporated into the private sector through CSR and compliance.
